“Fragile Connections: Fragments of a Lover’s Discourse” (2006-7) is a parable of love relationships in contemporary times.
I capture the interference, or ‘noise’ in the fractured digital image in stillshots captured from webcam conversations as a means to reflect on the fragile nature of long-distance affectionate relationships, . The title is inspired by Roland Barthes’ homonymous book “A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments” composed of a list of fragments of literature and philosophy as gestures of a lover’s discourse.
